What is a firewall? (As per Win-7 OS help)
A firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network, and then either blocks it or allows it to pass through to your computer, depending on your firewall settings.
A firewall can help prevent hackers or malicious software (such as worms) from gaining access to your computer through a network or the Internet. A firewall can also help stop your computer from sending malicious software to other computers.
So it is always recommended to turn your firewall ON and allow only specific applications to pass to or from your computer.
But in so many cases, your application doesn’t work and you need to turn your windows Firewall OFF.
Follow below instructions to turn your windows Firewall OFF:
Go To START > Type Windows Firewall in search box > Click on Windows Firewall option from the search list.
Go to START > Control Panel > Click on Windows Firewall to open Windows Firewall window.
Go to START > Control Panel > click on System and Security > then click Windows Firewall to open Windows Firewall window.
Once the Windows Firewall screen appears, click on the link labeled Turn Windows Firewall ON or OFF.
Now check all the Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) option and click on OK button.
Your systems Firewall settings are OFF.
Note: If you want to turn your windows Firewall ON, open Windows Firewall screen as specified in Step-2 and check all the Turn on Windows Firewall option.
